Hernando de Soto

Hernando de Soto was born circa 1500 and died on May 21 , 1542. Hernando was a Spanish explorer and a conquistador. Growing up his parents wanted their son to be a lawyer but he had other plans, he wanted to explore the West Indies. He joined Francisco Pizarro's another Spanish explorer and together with other man they captured Cuzco and what is now Peru and caused the great Incan empire to fall. In 1536 he returned to Spain a wealthy man he share of The Incan Empire in gold was no less than 18,000 ounces of gold. While in Spain he married Isabella de Rupodio. In 1539 he set out for North America and discovered The Mississippi River. A few years later after a short sickness he died it is disputed over whether he died in Arkansas or near Louisiana. Although he lived a pretty short life of only a little over 4 decades he helped establish Florida, Peru, Cuzco ,The Mississippi river and most importantly he is one of the many responsible for the fall of the Great Incan empire.
